Biography

Ying Wang is a user experience and human factors researcher with diversified expertise in human-machine interaction, biometrics marketing, and data analytics across a wide range of industries with a focus in automotive and technology. Combining her research experience in academia and industry, Ying has great insights on the development of the user-centered infotainment system, driver assistance technology, and connected services in cars based on a significant amount of studies she had conducted in driver behavior and in-vehicle HMI design. She has authored more than 40 scientific publications including papers on Human Factors, Ergonomics, Transportation Research, Auto-UI, and IEEE-Intelligent Transportation System. In her UX consulting career, Ying has provided services to many clients among the global-leading automobile OEMs and Silicon Valley technology giants. Her comprehensive knowledge and skills in UX study design, data analysis and reporting, statistics, biometrics methods (eg., eye-tracking, facial recognition, GSR, etc.), and international project management make her an answer for many questions. Ying has a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Tsinghua University, with a concentration in human factors. She had also held positions of a postdoctoral research associate at MIT’s AgeLab (2009-2012) and an associate professor at Beihang University (2013-2016). She has also served the International Traffic Medicine Association as the Secretary from 2011 to 2017.
